WHP was incorporated in 1994 as a private non-profit organization. A group of individuals were challenged by the Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) to help stabilize families and reduce student mobility. They designed a program to address many of the interrelated causes of homelessness that families were facing and that no other organization was addressing in West Houston. We serve families with children within the boundaries of the SBISD who are homeless or under the threat of immediate eviction, and have an annual income at or below the federal poverty guideline. WHP is still the only scattered-site Transitional Housing Program in the area.
